CoVID-19 and Autism
As parents, carers or those of us on the spectrum, we are very concerned as how CoVID-19 will affect us.
Things to remember:
-
NO evidence suggest Autistic children or adults are more susceptible to CoVID-19
-
Evidence does show that those with certain pre-existing health conditions are more vulnerable and may require additional care if infected.
-
Evidence does show that the mortality rate is higher among the elderly, especially those with certain pre-existing health conditions.
-
Only trust credible information. Most credible sites we recommend are WHO and NHS.
-
Searching Google will return many results containing inaccurate or false information, scams and myths.
-
Try to limit children's media exposure regarding CoVIR-19 issues, as this leads to fear and anxiety.
-
Good hygiene can reduce the chance of infection.
